When we received word a few months ago that Janine Benyus won the Design Mind Award from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, we celebrated the achievement and the exposure biomimicry would receive in the greater community. We did not realize that word would reach all the way to the White House!
Just last month, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a luncheon for the 2012 National Design Award winners, including Janine, who was accompanied by Biomimicry 3.8 co-founder Dayna Baumeister. Watch the official video of the First Lady’s speech and then see an 18-second clip filmed by Dayna at the White House reception.
